A respiratory revolution in medicine
The global pandemic has highlighted the extraordinary consequence of respiratory infection on our overall health evidenced by an unprecedented reduction in life expectancy. Therefore, respiratory health is the gateway to overall health.
The Centre for Respiratory Science and Health (CRSH) will develop new therapeutic strategies and facilitate medical technology breakthroughs to improve overall health in people afflicted by devastating lung diseases, and those afflicted by the long-term consequences of respiratory infections.
Our center will focus on a range of respiratory diseases, which encompass chronic complications caused by respiratory infections, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Severe Asthma and Asthma-COPD Overlap, lung cancer, and fibrotic lung diseases.
Our mission is to integrate fundamental discovery, translational research, and technological innovation to develop new therapeutic strategies for people with respiratory diseases. The centre will facilitate new multidisciplinary collaborations.
Discovering fundamental new knowledge in disease mechanisms using cutting-edge cellular, molecular & physiological techniques.
Focusing on developing new nanotherapies that specifically target lung cells to deliver respiratory disease therapies to where they are needed.
Bringing together clinicians that are leading pioneering research in translational research
Contributing to the education and training of the next generation of researchers and clinicians in lung biology, physiology and immunology.
We have a dedicated team of RMIT researchers and established collaborations with leading researchers and clinicians in academic, hospital and industry partners.
