Growing up, I was always interested in the health sector. In high school, I enjoyed physics and robotics and technological subjects.
I decided to study my postgraduate studies at RMIT, because given the experience I had in my undergraduate, I decided to pursue further study in management. I managed postgraduate studies with work with great organisational skills.
The industry mentors that I gained in my third and fourth years has really helped me, because I've been able to actually put the tertiary knowledge and skills that I gained in my education to practical use.
Two of the best things about my postgraduate studies are definitely the lecturers and the content. In my third year, I was lucky enough to secure an internship with Bionics Institute. And in my fourth year, I was lucky to do my honours project with Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. The project was looking at the interactions between additively manufactured titanium implants and tumoroids.
I spent a fair few hours upstairs in the research labs. And after that, we would have to use the radiation machines downstairs. However, to use that, we would have to wait until the patients had cleared out and we would have to wait until 9 PM and then stay up until 3 AM to finish off the experiment.
My time at RMIT, I've been involved in a fair few volunteering activities. So, I was the vice president of the Biomedical Engineering Student Society. We organised events for students. Organising industry professionals coming in to talk to us. My girls that I met in my undergraduate course, we stuck through it all together. Through group work, highs and lows. With my friends, we would always spend any spare moment we had at Strike just playing bowling, which was a really good bonding session.
What's next for me, is finishing up with my masters next year. And after I graduate, I hope to get a job in consulting, where I can still continue to help people.
