Student cards

All you need to know about getting, using and replacing your student card.

How to use your student card

With your student card, you can:

  • Borrow from the RMIT University Library
  • Print, scan and photocopy on campus
  • Access secure areas on campus such as computer labs and studios
  • Identify yourself at formal assessments
  • Identify yourself at RMIT service areas, if required
  • Get discounts! Business and service providers around Melbourne and Australia sometimes offer discounts when you present your student card. You might get discounts on coffee, food, travel, movies and more.

Please note, a student card cannot be used as proof of Public Transport Victoria (PTV) concession eligibility. You are required to carry a PTV concession card when you travel on public transport in Victoria. Please visit RMIT's public transport concession card page for information on eligibility and how to apply.

Your student card and your responsibilities

Your student card is the property of RMIT. In accordance with RMIT policy, all students must:

  • Carry their RMIT student card on campus
  • Take a student card to all formal assessments
  • If a card is damaged, lost or stolen, order a replacement card online as soon as possible. Until you do, any misuse of your card will be your responsibility.

Student cards are invalid if you're no longer enrolled at RMIT. If you cancel your enrolment, return your card to Student Connect or Campus Security.

Order your first student card

Your first student card is free. Please order your card at least two weeks before your classes start to allow time for it to be posted to you. Need a card urgently? See In-person card printing.
