Patients are quite rightly getting more and more frustrated at not getting what they want, when they want it! Please be assured that we are your advocates and we act in your best interests. But we do have to prescribe cost-effectively, and refer for medical reasons when we can't manage your problem, not simply for your peace of mind. You will not find a GP practice these days which will oblige your every wish without discussion!

Photo ID

You may be asked for a photo for our records. This reduces problems where patients are mistaken for each other when they consult another GP within the practice. PHONE CALLS may be recorded for your protection.

Sickness Certificates

The first 7 days of sickness do not require a certificate from your GP. If your employer insists on a sickness form, complete a Self-Certification form, which can be found here

dAlcohol & Drugs

DrinkAware! 14 units per week, for men and women, spread out (not all at once!) and with some alcohol-free days!

Because Drinking is more socially acceptable than smoking and drugs, it can catch you ought. There are lots of Alcoholics who don't even realise that they are addicted to Alcohol.
The health effects on the liver can be catastrophic. You can fill out our Alcohol Questionnaire and we can give you advice at the surgery based on your results.

Alcoholics Anonymous

Kids tend to copy their parents behaviour (if it suits them!) and can learn irresponsible behaviour   and also coping strategies (that is, that a drink is the best way to deal with stress/problems!).

Young Adults binge drink: they walk into cars, get into fights and get STI's/pregnant.

There is no place for drugs in society.

Some people will find this statement funny or old fashioned.

But 20 years in practice has shown me that people who abuse Cocaine nearly always have a brush with the Law.

Some youngsters who take Ecstasy have sudden cardiac deaths.
And they go usually down a certain path in life; abusive relationships, unstable families, dead-end jobs or no jobs at all.
Encourage your children to be responsible: they'll have a better more stable life, with less highs/lows.
