The first Australian University to implement a dedicated commercial cloud supercomputing facility.
RMIT is collaborating with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and AARNet to be the first Australian university to implement a dedicated commercial cloud supercomputing facility – RACE Hub, enabling true scalable and elastic high-powered computing to support digital innovation.
By combining the industry-leading cloud capabilities of AWS and the latest fibre network technologies from AARNet, RMIT is set to access tremendous connectivity and HPC processing power and provide seamless access to all our researchers, academics, students and industry partners.
To be the first Australian university to implement a dedicated Commercial Cloud Supercomputing facility to drive digital innovation.
To provide AWS-oriented services, training and expert support to enable RMIT staff to maximise the scientific return from the existing data and computing infrastructure.
This scheme will provide RMIT researchers with “free” access to AWS related services (e.g. EC2, S3) through a merit-based selection process. RACE Hub will also provide the relevant training, technical consultation and expert service to lower the technical barrier and maximise the scientific return.
This scheme will provide eligible RMIT PhD students and early career researchers with certain AWS credits and enable them to use the relevant AWS cloud services to advance their research.
This scheme will enable RMIT staff to access AWS cloud services at a discounted rate. RACE Hub will also provide the relevant training, technical consultation and expert service to lower the technical barrier and maximise the scientific return.
This scheme will promote and support academic-industry collaborations.
