Licensed Electrical Assessment (LEA) Safe Working Practice (SWP) tests your ability to safely disconnect/reconnect a piece of electrical equipment. This 45 minute assessment is regarded as 'real life' practical examination and as such all candidates must dress appropriately in long sleeves, long pants and covered footwear as per section 9 of AS/NZS 4836:2011. Failure to do so will disqualify you from testing. Candidates must achieve a minimum pass mark of 75%. To be eligible to sit the LEA assessments, you must provide an Eligibility to Sit LEA letter signed by your RTO.
With effect 10 August 2021:
Eligibility to sit the SWP and LET for apprentices in the UEE30820 qualification shall be completion of all units with the exception of UEEEL0039, UEECO0023 and any electives.

To be eligible to sit the LEA assessment, you must provide an 'Eligibility to sit LEA' letter signed by your Registered Training Organisation (RTO). Your enrolment will not be processed if you do not provide this letter.
All relevant materials and equipment, including LEA examinations are included.
You must bring your own material,codes, pens and rule books. We do not provide books nor do you have permission to borrow from another candidate.
You must wear long sleeves, long pants and covered footwear as per section 9 of AS/NZS 4836:2011. Failure to do so will disqualify you from testing.
Candidates must have successfully completed or near completed their on/off the job studies relevant to the Certificate III in Electro technology Electrician program or equivalent trade certificate.
After you register via the Short Courses website, the Partnerships team will contact you to advise your assessment time. The assessment will go for 45 minutes between 8:30am - 4:30pm.
Please note that the LEA assessment is conducted under strict examination conditions. ESV is the agency responsible for licensing and registering electrical workers in the State of Victoria. Please see the following link for more information: ESV Licenced Electrician's Assessment
To apply for your Electrician’s Licence, you will need to provide the results from your LET, SWP and LEP assessments to ESV along with your statement of results from your RTO.
Candidates must achieve a minimum pass mark of 75%. A "Letter of Results" will be forwrded to candidates, normally 10 days after assessment date.
