But it’s so much more. 

It’s sustainability, accessibility, and how to house a growing population. 

It’s a thousand millimetre-sized decisions and the experience to make them.

It’s the thresholds of private and public space; from the most intimate details, to the vastness of a changing skyline. 

Property, construction, the built environment – it’s what’s next for our homes, towns and cities.

You build because you believe you can do better.

Dean Johnson: When I was a teenager my dad dragged me along to a property investment seminar featuring a local property tycoon, and listening to his success story and how he created a multi-million dollar property portfolio really inspired me.

I started studying all the leaders in the property industry and I noticed the majority of them studied at RMIT. The best thing about the course is the strong industry connection – the material and theory is directly related to work you'll undertake in the industry. 

So, RMIT is really big on providing students with career opportunities. It's through the Employer of Choice Program where you're receiving emails every day about new intern programs, work experience, part-time work and it's through these opportunities where I've been able to move into my career path so quickly.

Now, in my third year, I'm currently working in a 12-month intern program at Development Victoria. I'm directly applying the knowledge I learned in the classroom to projects that I'm working on.
